Housekeeping: We will have our first ever book club live chat on May 6th at 7pm EST! We are reading the book Strangers by Belle Burden, and can’t wait to hang with you!
This one’s a little different.
We didn’t plan a topic for this episode. What started as a conversation about how surprised Sam is that we’re friends turned into something we weren’t expecting: a real, honest look at how our friendship actually works. The dynamics we’ve never named. The things we’ve both been carrying that we hadn’t said out loud.
We talk about how differently we’re wired, what drew us to each other in the first place, and why ambition still feels like something women have to justify. And then the conversation shifts into territory that got uncomfortable for both of us — the kind of uncomfortable that you can only get to with someone you actually trust.
We talk a lot on this podcast about nuance, about sitting with hard things, about not reducing people or relationships to simple narratives. This episode is us actually doing that with each other in real time. Just two people figuring out what they need to say and trying to hear each other while they say it.
We didn’t edit this and kept this all in because we think we landed somewhere so vulnerable and beautiful (maybe that’s too cliche?) and wanted you to hear. It is definitely our most vulnerable and honest episode. We were together after recording all weekend and it turned into a couples therapy session with ourselves!
